FLP CHAPBOOK OF THE DAY: Skeletons, Sequins, and Kin by Wednesdae Reim Ifrach On SALE: https://finishinglinepress.com/product/skeletons-sequins-and-kin-by-wednesdae-reim-ifrach/ Skeletons, Sequins, and Kin is a poetry collection that traces the queer body as both battleground and sanctuary, weaving together stories of survival, kinship, nightlife, and inheritance. Moving through bruises and glitter, protest and prayer, the poems chart how identity is written into flesh, remade on dance floors, and carried in chosen family. Divided into four sections, the collection begins with explorations of embodiment, birth certificates, closets, scars, and the ways a body insists on its own truth. It moves into the bloodlines we claim and the kin we create, honoring aunties, ghosts, and chosen family who stitch resilience from scar tissue. The third section turns to nightlife as sacred ground, where sweat, sequins, and basslines become a form of liturgy and protection. The final movement reckons with memory and inheritance, what we carry in our bones, the names we sharpen, the scars we keep as love letters, and the ancestors we become for ourselves. At once tender and defiant, these poems illuminate queer survival as an act of radical kinship. They testify that joy, body reclamation, and community are not afterthoughts to struggle but the very conditions of belonging. #QueerPoetry #TransPoets #NonbinaryVoices #QueerCreatives #LGBTQPoetry Wednesdae Reim Ifrach is an art therapist, counselor, researcher, and poet whose work bridges clinical practice with creative and community-based healing. Their interdisciplinary approach integrates art and poetry with somatic and therapeutic inquiry, centering gender-affirming care, LGBTQ+ issues, trauma, body image, and eating disorders. They are a faculty member in the School of Behavioral and Community Health at Moravian University and co-owner of Rainbow Recovery, providing counseling, art therapy, supervision, and training. Their commitment to collective healing is also reflected in contributions to survivor-led projects such as the Monument Quilt, now housed at the Baltimore Museum of Art, and MoMA’s Artful Practices for Well-Being series.Their scholarship includes peer-reviewed articles such as “Social Action Art Therapy as an Intervention for Compassion Fatigue” and “Inked Identity” (forthcoming in Human Arena). Their book, Queer Expressions: Expressive Art and Somatic Therapy Practices for Healing Body Trauma (North Atlantic Books, June 2026). Alongside academic work, Wednesdae’s art and poetry have been widely published and exhibited, inviting audiences into spaces of radical care, resilience, and creative possibility. PRAISE: Wednesdae’s talent knows no bounds – their work flows across mentorship, healing, community-building, advocacy, and creativity. Skeletons, Sequins, and Kin is the consummation of that gift: a testament to the beauty in human connections, an act of preservation for the transience and tenderness that soak our souls, and ultimately, a manifesto, a prayer, a chime. In the poet’s own words, this chapbook is “meant to be carried carefully/like a knife you trust.” Wednesdae’s poems echo Tony Kushner’s reminder that “In a murderous time/the heart breaks and breaks/and lives by breaking.” And still, through every scar, they insist on more life. Give us more life.–Wisteria Deng, Published Poet and Founding Artistic Director, Vermillion Theater Inc..
