Hard to believe this little Victorian terrace was basically frozen in the early ’80s. When Dean and Kelly first handed us the keys, it was essentially a white box of a house. They trusted us completely. Brave people. And because colour was going to do the heavy lifting, there was never any question about the paint. Dulux Clay Pipe and Dulux New Penny became the foundation, and from there every other decision simply fell into place. Walls, ceilings, floors… almost every surface changed. What was once bright but lifeless is now layered, warm and feels completely connected to the people who live here. It’s easy to underestimate what a few tins of paint can do, but I’d argue they’re the most powerful design tool in the house.
