"Is this an actual school or a prison?” I asked, and squinted at three heavily armed guards on top of the tower. “I can’t tell the difference.” “Show some respect, Pip!” Prince “Sideburns” said through his clenched teeth. He enjoyed finding every chance to scold me. “The security team won’t hesitate to shoot a deserter.” That threat was definitely for my ears. “To the undisciplined, a military school might sound like a prison.” Sideburns wouldn’t let it go. I had a feeling that he didn’t know how to handle me, and he didn’t like it one bit. He was the Alpha Heir. Even the toughest shifters submitted to him. I was a nobody, but I didn’t have a submissive bone in my body. “You’re lucky I permitted you to be enrolled in this finest academy,” he continued. Yeah, yeah. I refrained from telling him that I’d never asked to be here and I certainly didn’t ask to be trained as a soldier to fight the shifters’ future war. The sentinels on the high tower saluted, and I mimicked them and saluted back, only to realize they weren’t saluting me but their princes. The gate slid to one side. Our jeep cruised through the open gate and stopped in the middle of a grand courtyard. “That’s a sculpture of my ancestor,” Prince Shade said with pride. “His name was Fenrir, the Wolf God.” “No shit,” I said. Sideburns flashed me a hard look before stepping out of the jeep. “First lesson, Pip,” he snapped. “You’ll learn to censor every word before it comes out of your mouth.” “Then I won’t be able to speak for a month, good sir,” I said, not dropping my smile. No kind of schooling would bind my tongue. Suddenly, a crowd of students appeared, boys in gray and blue uniforms, girls in gray and red skirts and socks, flooding into the courtyard from all directions. The boys looked at the Alpha Heir with reverence, but most of the girls either stole a glance at Shade or gawked at him. I heard some giggles as well. “It’s lunch break.” Shade smirked, enjoying his popularity with the ladies. I scowled at him. I hadn’t been wrong about him being a man whore, and he flashed me a grin and winked at a giggling girl nearby. A gorgeous tall blonde swept toward us like a force of nature, as if she owned half the campus. Maybe she did, since she carried the regal air of a princess. Then it dawned on me who she was. Everything about Princess Viviane spelled royalty, power, and riches. Every feature on her face indicated her high breeding. Her makeup was impeccable. Her classic blue eyes fixed on Sideburns. It didn’t take a genius to see that she regarded him as her equal and the rest as dirt. “Jared,” she purred and pouted. “I thought you’d be back yesterday. I was waiting for you all night!” She was staking her claim in public, but, in my humble opinion, she sounded a bit too desperate by telling the entire school she’d been waiting all night for him. The princess didn’t spare me a look but shoved me hard in the chest even though I wasn’t exactly standing in her way. While I tried to steady myself, she ran into Sideburns’ arms. I understood that she didn’t like me standing too close to her beau, but shouldn’t she go after him instead, since he was the one who had walked to my side to scold me while secretly inhaling my scent? “Ex—” I protested, my face flushing in anger. “Excuse me?” The princess snapped her disdainful gaze toward me as if I wasn’t a person. She’d shoved me intentionally to put me in my place. A lowly girl like me had no business standing close to a high and mighty Alpha Heir. I should have cowered ten feet away from him so as not to offend her. “How dare you talk to me, dirty rat?” the princess hissed. “Hey, lady,” I said good-naturedly and spread my arms. “I don’t think I’m a rat shifter, unless you were speaking from personal experience and recognized your own kind.” The princess’s eyes widened in surprise before rage took over. Yeah, I knew that outraged look. No one lower than her had dared to speak to her that way. I still had a smirk hanging on my lips, but I was ready for an attack and pictured doing a devil’s kick to dent her pretty face. Did I even know how to do a devil’s kick? The courtyard fell silent, and students watched with riveted interest. “Who the heck are you?” Viviane demanded, red-faced. “Don’t mind her, Viviane,” Sideburns said, his hands gripping her waist. “She’s nobody. That girl hasn’t even shifted yet and knows nothing about our rules. Don’t stoop to her level.” I chuckled lowly. What a match made in heaven! Yet his dismissal set bitterness brewing in my middle. “Fine, since you asked,” Viviane said and threw her arms around Sideburns’ corded neck. “I missed you. You haven’t called since you left my penthouse last time. My throat still hurts from what you did, but I want more!” She didn’t mind anyone hearing as she narrated their kinky sexual escapade. And she thought I was trash. She stood on her toes and leaned in to kiss him. He hesitated for a beat, his gray eyes darting to me before returning to her. And then he kissed her back hard. I’d probably just let it go if she hadn’t shoved me and then called me a rat. She’d have struck me if Sideburns hadn’t dismissed and humiliated me. Or maybe I just felt angry or even a bit jealous at being rejected. So I was up to some pranks and petty vengeance. Suddenly, Viviane farted long and loud, like issuing a series of high notes. Sideburns pulled away from her, looking shocked. Then he farted too, shorter and sounding more like whining. Now the courtyard was even quieter until someone could no longer hold back their laughter, then a couple more snickers burst out. I chuckled too. This was fun. I didn’t stop there. It wasn’t in my nature to hold back. 🔥 Binge read the spicy Shifter God. 🔥 https://amzn.to/3pH1Ade
