After almost 300 hours of somatic therapy training (and more to be completed), the marketed term "nervous system reset" has become increasingly disturbing. Our biology does not work like a machine that can easily be reset or bio-hacked. It takes gradual shifts, consistent check-ins, honest reflection, and timely adjustments. Ethically speaking, practitioners should not overpromise or mislead clients. At the same time, clients should also be open and honest about their own well-being. Tools or techniques that work wonderfully yesterday might put us on edge today. What seems threatening and unfamiliar today might feel neutral tomorrow. We feel calm, connected, and hopeful in a sound healing session or any therapeutic setting for a few hours, but the same unhealthy environment outside could also take that away. Without genuine understanding of our history, present reality, without integration, and without consistent practices, a sound bath is more like a getaway than a medicine. Even with medicines and supplements, naturally sourced or lab-formulated, our body decides if they are effective, too strong, or too little. We are offered different doses, different options, different assessment, adjusting as we go on. If we truly want healing or wellness to be holistic and sustainable, we should never expect our nervous system, our organs, and those of other people's to change — to heal — so abruptly.
