How we count

Ad text

Understanding the core beliefs and wounds at the heart of our patterns can be incredibly useful, as we can start to make contact with the immense fear and pain that sits underneath our so-called "problem behaviours". These are some of the most common ones I see amongst folks with anxious attachment — unworthiness, fear of abandonment, being disliked, being excluded, and not being prioritised. These beliefs in turn drive most of the protective strategies we see amongst anxious attachers — trying to keep people close, hypervigilance, overfunctioning, excessive self-sacrifice, excessive caretaking, overstaying in unhealthy relationships, trying to get others to change, jealousy, comparison... the list goes on. As always, the work is in identifying what purpose our behaviours are serving, so that we can start to tend to the underlying pain and find healthier and more skilful ways of supporting ourselves to get our needs met. Which of these beliefs do you notice in yourself? Let me know in the comments. PS. If this resonates and you’d like to understand what the path to healing looks like, my free training on How to Heal Anxious Attachment & Finally Feel Secure in Life & Love is a great starting point.
