We love our MTs! Posted yesterday: I have worked for The Medical Transcription Service (TMTS) for a little over 7 years now. The coursework was challenging. But during training, the owner or her office assistant always promptly responded to my emails or calls when I had questions or needed guidance and were clear on the expectations and generous with encouragement. ("Keep up the good work! You are doing great and very close to finishing. We really, really need good MTs. I can't wait until you are ready to work!!!") The final step to successful completion was a spelling test consisting of 33 terms with an allowance of up to 3 misspellings. To my utter disappointment (in myself), I fell short the first time. She allows a retest after a minimum of two weeks from the first test. I buckled down studying even more and passed with flying colors the next test. As promised, the owner helped me find work (non-medical in the beginning, just so that I could get to work transcribing ASAP). When a good prospect came along, I was offered a lead MT position with a new client. The client was very happy with my work and was anxious to use the MTs from TMTS more and more. As a lead, I trained new MTs who were added to the group and I was very grateful for the stringency and high expectations of my earlier training. I insisted on the same high-quality product from the MTs in my group and it paid off. I have seen criticisms about the high demands of TMTS, and they are often filled with misspellings and poor grammar! If you can't spell or communicate well, you really can't transcribe well. I personally want to see quality and pride in the work we turn out and I know the client's appreciate the same. As a side note, the entire staff of TMTS have been so warm and have treated me practically like family. I have always felt valued and appreciated.
