My 7-year-old has always been so hard on herself. Every new school year, same thing. "I'm not good at this," "everyone's smarter than me," before the first day even started. I didn't want to argue her out of it anymore. So we got her a Big Life Journal. A few minutes most mornings, no rules, just her and the page. That's where "I can do hard things" came from. And "it's okay if I'm not the best." Her words. It's a poster on her wall now. Every line on it is something she wrote in that journal first. Same kid who used to say she couldn't. She just needed somewhere to find out she could.
