Also known as gastric cancer it is a rare disease amongst the United States but it is a leading cause of cancer death worldwide. This year about 26,000 Americans will be diagnosed with stomach cancer out of the estimated 1 million that will be diagnosed across the globe. Because many of the symptoms of stomach cancer also are associated with other common conditions, it makes this particular cancer difficult to diagnose in its earlier stages. Some of these symptoms include: * a bloated feeling after meals * fatigue * Severe and persistent heartburn * severe indigestion * stomach pain * a feeling of fullness after eating only small amounts of food; * unexplained weight loss * persistent vomiting * blood in the stool * jaundice * difficulty swallowing. If you are above the age of 65 and have any of the above symptoms on a persistent or recurring basis, you should seek help from a physician. If caught early enough stomach cancer may be treatable.
