Finally, a good looking cat tree for Maine Coons… if you're like me, you probably looked at some of the nicer cat tree brands and thought "gee, I wish I could have something like that… unfortunately my cat is 20 pounds." And maybe you even bought one of those fancy looking little cat trees, and then your cat broke it or knocked it over or didn't even dare to climb on it. So then you looked at the ones that were built for big cats. The ones that were advertised for Maine Coons… and they were so hideous that you couldn't bring yourself to buy them. And so you're stuck with this little tiger climbing all over the place and clawing up your furniture and you really want to spoil him with something that he can live on and scratch up to his delight, but you just can't find something that is acceptable in its aesthetics and sturdy enough for your cat. Well, I had the same problem. My Maine Coon is called Tubes and there's 23lbs of him. So my husband Mike and I gave up looking and built our own, and that's how Katpole started. I had two absolute non-negotiables. First, it had to be completely safe for a cat of Tubes' size. Number two, it had to belong in a living room I'd already spent a lot of time and money getting right. If it made the room worse, I didn't want it, no matter how well it worked. So we put a lot of thought into the design: a minimalist, airy silhouette, and really lovely materials. It's built like actual high-quality furniture, in the way it looks and the way it feels under your hand. Katpole doesn't stand on a base. It runs floor to ceiling, held by a tension bolt. The same mechanism used to brace construction scaffolding. Each platform and hammock holds up to thirty pounds. Most other cat trees are rated for eighteen. No wobbling, even with multiple larger cats on it at once. And because the pole runs the full height of the room, Tubes can finally stretch out full-length to scratch, the way he'd scratch a tree. That's what got him off my sofa. Then there's the part nobody warns you about with a long-haired breed. Hair works its way down into carpet fibres and stays there. Sisal traps it. Glued-on carpet traps it, and traps everything else too. One hairball, one accident, and the whole tree is garbage, because there's no way to actually clean it. Katpole's scratch carpets come off. They're not glued or stapled, they detach, so you can pull them off, brush them out, and put them back. The platforms underneath are wood with a 100% waterproof vinyl surface. You wipe them down. Nothing soaks in, nothing stains, nothing holds a smell. Which is what saves me every spring, honestly, because Tubes drops enough undercoat to build a second cat. I take the carpets off, brush them out, vacuum the platform underneath (that's the bit you can never get at on a normal cat tree) and clip everything back on. Ten minutes, once a week, and only during shedding season. Mine still looks the way it did the week we put it up. And when the carpets finally wear out, you order new carpets. Not a new cat tree. Beyond what you can see in a photo, it's designed by an actual engineer and built with a steel and aluminum core, so it's rock solid. Tubes adores it. And when friends came over and saw it in the house they were so taken with it that they started asking where they could get one… which is really why this turned into a business. Katpole starts at $899 ($1,169 Canadian), it's made to order here in Canada so there are no tariffs, and shipping is free both ways across the US and Canada. You get 100 days to live with it. If your cat doesn't take to it, or it just doesn't look right in your space, send it back and we'll cover the return shipping. There's a 10 year warranty behind it too. The only real risk is that your cat decides he lives there now. Click below to see the seven reasons why Katpole is the best cat tree for Maine Coons.
