If you have any type of Plant/Vines or similar growing on your water tank or close by… Remove them…They love to get inside forcing their way through any gap or crack, it damages the tank and it makes your water smell and taste funky too. It looks like another world down there…. Frogs and bugs living all in between the root systems… We cleaned out the tanks, got in and cleaned out all the roots and growth, while the home owners got rid of all the outside to stop it from happening again.
