Five years ago, I released my debut novel, 𝘾𝙧𝙖𝙨𝙝 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚. Five years ago, I began my journey into self-publishing and proved to myself that I could become an indie author. Because of that, this book will always be so insanely special to me. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙩. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚. Arden wasn’t perfect. She was stubborn, vulnerable, and deeply haunted by her trauma. Henry was protective, caring, and willing to risk it all for the broken girl from the car wreck. Together, they were messy, complicated, and more than a little taboo…and I poured everything I had into their story. It’s funny to look back on the process of writing this book, because—𝙬𝙤𝙬—it was hard. I had so many unfinished novels sitting on my computer, but I was determined to complete this one. 𝗜 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 to see it through because I knew it was special, and I trusted these characters with everything. Still, I had no idea how to format a manuscript, find an editor, or get real, unbiased readers. And breaking into the world of self-publishing? Well, it felt nearly impossible… But I spent every night after work writing, tweaking, and refining. I spent weekends researching indie authors, self-publishing tips, and how to actually 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨. I ran promos, posted on social, reached out to reviewers, and just hoped people would read it…and love it as much as I did.
