A collage of images and memorabilia of the gifts of the land in Val Massino, from a shared day with @teogeovannipoggi @francescalucchitta and @severinvandermeer As an offering back to this day together, we layered our palimpsests of cherished memories, textures and plants with our hands. Images deconstructed and then reconfigured into new assemblages, sprouting with new stories. We crawled through channels of water with boulders flanking its sides. The omnipresent sound of the rushing river suspended each moment into a tapestry of smattering water droplets, each reflecting radiantly when the sun intermittently shone. With cooled skin and refreshed minds, we headed to the boulders sitting in the valley. We tirelessly flung ourselves on stone that absorbed our futile slaps, shredded sacrificial skin. Chasing the stone in circles, one attempt after another, each one in hopes of completing the circle of reaching the top, just to return to the ground again. My climbing these days are parallel to this idea of circularity: rather than focusing purely on how to ascend, I find myself looking around me, pondering the ecosystem that surrounds the rock I’m so drawn to, and our impact upon it. How can we give back to the land, that gives so much to us? How can we create systems that protect the integrity of nature? How can materials flow in cycles where there is no such thing as waste? It’s fitting to have worn and tested the Sperro SV jacket, part of @arcteryx’s new System 0 circularity program, made with recycled, recyclable nylon. Like the collage we wove, the jacket has a life of its own. One that can transmute, be made into something else once its lifespan has been reached. Like an ouroboros, where new life can be breathed into with every iteration. I’m grateful to be part of this vision of the future, where circularity is centered and where waste is reduced — only fertile soil for possibilities to make something new. #DesignedtoPersist Images by @teogeovannipoghi & weaving by @francescaluschitta 💌
