Dr. Barbara Sturm thinks you’re doing way too much with your skin. “People are so rough,” said the German skincare brand founder. “‘Let’s resurface, let’s do laser, let’s do acid peels, let’s do retinol.’ Every time you do these things, you break through your skin barrier and make your skin so vulnerable.” Sturm, an orthopedist by training, has become one of today’s foremost aesthetics experts after pivoting her career to focus on skin rejuvenation. She pioneered the “vampire facial” back in 2002, a procedure where a patient’s plasma is used to rejuvenate facial skin. The skincare label she founded in 2014 is now owned by Puig, and Sturm serves as its chief product development officer. Her brand recently launched a facial peptide serum that she said helps with youth-enhancing collagen production. She doesn’t like to use the word “longevity” when she talks about her products. “Healthy aging is the better term,” she said. A mother of two, Sturm lives with her 11-year-old and their five dogs, and works with her 30-year-old, Charly. Here, she shares her morning health hacks, which skincare product she hates the most and what she’s learned from bringing Charly into her business: 🔗 https://on.wsj.com/4cDvcBi
