Hoodie and t-shirt sales are now live! If you would like to purchase your limited-edition 2026 Hoods Up Volume Down hoodie or tee, you can do so here: https://www.sas.co.nz/product-category/charity/autism-nz-charity/ To help with orders and understanding, here are a few frequently asked questions: 1. What is Hoods Up Volume Down? Hoods Up Volume Down (HUVD) is an annual, nationwide movement for acceptance, understanding and accessibility. We are asking businesses, workplaces, schools and organisations to participate in a national ‘quiet hour’ on Wednesday April 29th, at 10am. Turn down the lights, turn down the noise and turn up for the autistic community of Aotearoa. 2. Why hoodies? The decision to sell hoodies for HUVD each year was driven by our Autistic Advisory Group. Many autistic people use hoodies as a way to block out overwhelming sensory input, and our hoodies are super soft and comfy, helpful for those who are sensitive to touch and texture. $10 from every hoodie sold goes straight to Autism New Zealand, to help us continue our work to support the autistic and wider autism communities of Aotearoa. We know that hoodies don't work for everyone, so we also offer t-shirts as an alternative option for those who still want something specific to autism acceptance month, or to support Autism NZ. 3. What size should I order? We will post the official size charts for both the hoodies and tees in the comments below. It is a good idea to measure yourself or the person you're buying for, to make sure your garment will be a good fit. These hoodies are a unisex size, so they are a little different to your typical mens/womens sizing. This is why we strongly advice to check the sizing charts and take your measurements. The sizing is a fairly tight fit, so if you like your hoodies to feel baggy or 'roomy,' we suggest sizing up. The hoodies are also fairly narrow in the hip area, so some people prefer a larger size to accommodate a curvier build. 4. When will my order arrive? Your hoodies will be sent by SAS who manufacture the hoodies and fundraise for us. They endeavour to send the garments out immediately, but some must be printed to order, so you may need to allow a few extra days for your order to arrive. You must order by April 18th 2026 if you want your order to arrive by the HUVD event on April 29th. 5. What should I do if I have a problem with my order? All orders are done through SAS, rather than Autism NZ. If you have an issue with your order, you'll need to contact them directly. You can do so here: https://www.sas.co.nz/contact/ We ask that people keep in mind that SAS is fundraising on our behalf, to give back to the autistic and wider autism communities. Because they generally receive a huge volume of orders for us in a short time, mistakes can happen at times. We can't wait to see everyone wearing their hoodies and tees and celebrating Hoods Up Volume Down 2026! #hoodsupvolumedown #AutismAcceptanceMonth #AutismNZ
