Kids are seeing alcohol ads more than ever – near schools, on public transport, at sporting events, and online. Lead researcher Dr Victoria Egli, Associate Professor at Waikato’s Te Wānanga Waiora Division of Health, says the evidence is clear: repeated exposure to alcohol advertising shapes young people’s attitudes and normalises drinking. Her team warns current self-regulation isn’t enough and is calling for stronger Government rules so parents aren’t left to fight this alone.
