Printed timber murals, yes, they are a thing. Prices start at $499 per square metre. The design in the first picture started life as a mural for a family home in one Perth's leafier suburbs. I handpicked some of my favourite birds and plants from the Perth region and melded them together, with a bit of abstract foliage thrown in to the background. Mother Nature has done her best work blending the colours, like the blacks and reds of the cockatoos, and the greens and reds of the flowering gum nuts. I tweaked some of the colours, adding glimmers of gold into the branches, as they might show at sunrise or set. Meanwhile, some of the leaves have a light, sage green, which always reaches its full potential next to gold. The remaining pictures show more of my work. I created them all with zero-emission inks rendered into locally sourced marine timber panels. You can see more of my work in the rest of the pictures. All these pieces are drop-dead gorgeous, with the swirling soft grain of the timber coming through to make them look like they have been there forever. Speaking of which, these panels will outlive the lot of us. They are a sturdy hardwood and the inks are UV cured to never fade. They work well indoors or out. I seal them with a non-yellowing clear coat for outdoors to protect the wood. Moreover, they are portable, and the client can take them to new premises if they move, which can't be said for wallpaper. I am also cost competitive with designer wallpaper brands, starting at $499 per square metre.
