UPDATE FROM 12/14 KITTEN TIFFANY'S FIGHT FOR LIFE! Sadly, kitten, “Tiffany,” was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis or FIP, which used to be a death sentence. However, medical advances have been made, and as a truly no-kill shelter, SPARC remains true to its mission to give every animal their second chance at life, so Tiffany will receive the “GS” treatment, with daily injections over the course of a few months. According to PetMD.com, “Until recently, there was no effective treatment for feline infectious peritonitis. However, therapies have now been developed that are effective for feline infectious peritonitis. Remdesivir and GS-441524 are two treatment options that have shown promise in treating FIP well, but they are not yet widely available. These treatments are given for at least three months by injection or orally.” For more information on FIP, please follow the link to Petmd.com: https://www.petmd.com/cat/conditions/infectious-parasitic/feline-infectious-peritonitis The course of treatment for Tiffany is not cheap at $1,200 for the medication, but we’re hoping that your donations will help us get her through this horrible illness and give her the chance to live her life! Thank you for believing in SPARC’s lifesaving mission to give every animal their second chance at life!
