#BreakingNews: Digital dollars are here! __Innovation in action Someone on this platform once asked me what I thought of crypto, and I replied with something like this: “I don’t know anything about cryptocurrency but I’m interested in blockchain technology, which is the underlying technology used in cryptocurrency.” I have never bought or traded cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, and I probably never will. My answer to that guy should have hinted that there was something I was working on, which I did not want to talk about at the time: my interest in Blockchain and its possible use for other #Products! Fast forward: #BreakingNews! Today I am very pleased to share exciting news about a partnership between one of our Cassava Technologies family of companies, Sasai Fintech (based in London), and Circle, one of the largest players in an industry known as “Stablecoins”. If you haven't already heard about it, here’s a link to the statement: https://www.circle.com/pressroom/circle-and-sasai-fintech-collaborate-to-expand-access-to-usdc-in-africa Africa is considered one of the fastest-growing #Stablecoin markets in the world. Last year, it reached $90bn, with countries like Nigeria and South Africa leading the way. Circle first launched its Stablecoin, known as USDC (USD Coin) eight years ago. It listed on the NYSE last year and is currently worth about $25bn. (The new industry was recently great accerated by a US law called The Genius Act). Africa’s digital economy is entering a new era, propelled by entrepreneurship, a mobile-first generation, and the acceleration of intra-regional trade. By integrating with the trusted and widely adopted USDC network, we can drive financial inclusion and open transformative opportunities for businesses and consumers alike. What first caught my attention when I started looking at Stablecoins is the fact that they are basically US dollars in digital form, rather than paper notes. Being based on Blockchain, they are easier to protect, but most importantly, you can use them to make remittances. (Unlike Bitcoin, a Stablecoin is pegged to the US dollar). Sasai Fintech, our own payments business, is already a specialist in cross-border remittances, as many of you know. The challenge in that industry is that there are too many intermediary players. This is one reason why it costs so much to send remittance money into Africa, with some players charging up to 15% (which is just extortionate). With stablecoins, we can make the cost of each remittance well below 5% and totally disrupt the market. This is a remarkable #Innovation! Our team at Sasai Fintech is now working to unlock the full potential of this technology, powered by the collaboration with our partners at Circle. If you want to follow this development, you can visit the websites of Sasai Fintech and Circle: https://digitaldollar.sasai.global/ https://www.circle.com/ Even better, you might want to start learning about Stablecoins yourself. As always, you must do your OWN homework here. Why not start by asking your AI to prepare a study for you on Stablecoins, and then follow up with prompts on how you can get involved as an entrepreneur, especially those of you with a pan-African and global vision! #InnovativePaymentSolutions #AuditedAnchoredAlways1:1 #CuttingRemittanceCosts #AcceleratingRegionalTrade #GrowingGlobalProsperity #LeavingNoAfricanBehind
