We published 2,000 AI-generated articles on 20 brand-new domains and tracked them for 16 months. Here's what happened: 📈 Month 1: 71% of pages indexed. 122K impressions. 80% of sites ranking for 100+ keywords — with zero backlinks or SEO work. 📈 Months 2–3: Impressions grew to 526K. Looked promising. 📉 Month 3–6: Rankings collapsed. Only 3% of pages remained in the top 100 (down from 28%). Most of the traffic (70–75% of all impressions) came in just the first 2.5 months. ⚡ August 2025: A Google spam update caused a two-week impression spike on 50% of sites. Pages in the top 100 jumped from 3% back to 20%. But it didn't last — 6 of those 10 sites quickly returned to prior lows. 📉 Month 16: No meaningful recovery.
