I don't want to be one of those dads who buys everything he sees on TV. I have been that dad before. I once bought a blender from an infomercial that could "pulverize a brick." It did not pulverize a brick. It pulverized my trust in late-night shopping. So I am careful now. I do not easily cave. But I was watching Shark Tank and a kid came on. Seven years old. His dad was with him. They were pitching a coffee for kids that had no caffeine and real vitamins and minerals, and this boy was holding his own up there. I have a son around that age. I watched the whole pitch and thought about how I couldn't give a five-minute presentation at seven without crying. So I gave it a chance. I ordered the original instant one because that was the flavor my son said sounded "most like real coffee." It showed up a couple days later. He made a big production out of opening the pouch. I read the back out loud to him because he likes when I do that. Organic, water-process decaf, no chemicals, vitamins, minerals, prebiotic fiber. He nodded like he understood it. He probably didn't. He mostly cared about the mixing part. We made it together. He tasted it. He loved it. That was the verdict. No drama, no negotiation, just, "Dad, I want this every day." And I am happy to oblige because it is genuinely healthy which is not something I can say about most things my kid begs for and because the taste is legitimately good. I tried a cup too. I'd drink it myself honestly. It's smooth. Not bitter. Not too sweet. Great find. Credit to that seven-year-old founder for building something real. My son is now on what he calls "his coffee subscription," which makes him feel like a grown adult with bills to pay. I will not correct him.
