My dad worked at Monsanto in St Louis, where DMSO was made and I have a third nipple now but my knees feel great. I'm just playin Haha ...But yes, it is magical stuff. 🔮 If you've been readin up on it, yes it really is great for pain. But it's also true that it can be difficult / risky to use if you mess up. So this is a long PSA for anyone who is thinking of trying DMSO for their joint pain, or has tried DMSO and didn't get the results they were hoping for. I've had osteoarthritis in both knees for over a decade. Grade 3 in the right, grade 2 in the left. Growing up around DMSO it was always my first instinct for pain. And in my experience, worked better than anything my doctor prescribed. Still. I did spend about two years going through every oral supplement I could find — glucosamine, collagen 2s, turmeric, fish oil. Most did nothing. Even the painkillers on doctor's recommendation. Went back to DMSO every time, so if you've looked into DMSO, you're already ahead of most people. If you believe in it, I wanna share about something even better. It's essentially DMSO v2 and I've only felt better since switching to it. ==== OK, the gist is, organic sulfur can absorb directly through the skin and reach the joint tissue without going through your gut or your bloodstream. Which is how DMSO works, and how it relieves the pain so fast. 👍 But here's what most DMSO users don't know. When DMSO absorbs into your skin, it is actually oxidized and converted to DMSO₂ inside your body. DMSO₂ is also called MSM, and it's the form of sulfur your body actually stores and uses in the joints naturally. Such as in your cartilage. That's why DMSO has such fantastic effects that so many swear off painkillers to use 'em. But right now, you can get MSM straight up. Instead of having your body convert it, you can just use it directly. Couple other reasons as well below. But for those of you who are new to DMSO, are trying to get into it, or have never succeeded with it, I strongly advise you to try DMSO₂ — you'll find it called MSM creams/lotions. ==== The simplest reason is while it's just as fantastic for pain relief, inflammation and arthritis, it is not as difficult to prepare. I'm always very careful and have never had any bad accidents with DMSO, since I've been using it forever. But I know many who've had near-misses, or burned their skin by not diluting it properly. With DMSO you have to: 🔴 Dilute it precisely with castor oil or distilled water — too much or too little and you either get no effect or a chemical burn. It depends on your skin too. 🔴 Ensure your skin is perfectly clean before every application. 🔴 Be careful about what you're wearing as dyes from clothing can be absorbed into your skin alongside it. 🔴 Use DISTILLED water only! Tap water can contain all kinds of contaminants depending on where you live, which WILL inflame your joints badly. On the other hand, MSM is a powder at room temperature. Although it is still really thin and can penetrate through the skin on its own, it won't absorb other chemicals into your skin alongside it. I've used it out of the shower, with dirty hands, and it works all the same. ==== Now, there are actually reasons why it might also be beneficial to use MSM. Because MSM is the oxidized, stable form of DMSO, it actually lasts about 4 times longer inside the body. For reference, DMSO stays about 120 hours. MSM stays a whopping 480 hours (20 days!) inside the body, binding your joint tissue with rich mineral sulfur. So in addition to the quick shot of relief, MSM is also a sound strategy for supporting long-term pain-free mobility. Since switching to MSM I've felt 0 difference in its effectiveness. Only it's more convenient. ==== After MSM, I also use arnica montana topically as a painkiller. It's a herb from Europe used topically. There's a good bit of research on how it stacks up against painkillers, and it's the best natural alternative if you don't want any of that stuff ruining your gut or kidneys. MSM won't cause it to absorb into your body. You can use other essential oils if you want too! My wife loves frankincense and has no issues using MSM with it. I use a magnesium lotion on top of it to go to sleep like a baby. Another handy benefit of using it. 👍 ==== The big difference from others is the WAY I take my relief. Unlike a lot of others, I really dislike oral supplements. I've advocated for topical relief for a long time. It's also why I believe so deeply in the DMSO and MSM topical relief philosophy. Everyone over 50 knows what it's like when supplements or NSAIDs stop working. You might be surprised to know glucosamine or chondroitin actually have some sulfur like MSM. But for most people it's arguably no better than a placebo, because most of it isn't actually reaching your joints. When you take it orally: 1️⃣ Your body prioritizes using these minerals to detoxify instead. 2️⃣ It gets diluted by your entire blood volume — 5 liters full. 3️⃣ By the time that diluted sulfur reaches a specific knee, hip, or finger joint, the concentration is often too low to trigger any repairs. Plus when you have arthritis, your bodily inflammation is going wild. So what happens? The remaining sulfur is sent to your liver to be excreted in your next toilet break. You're fixing joint pain. It's not the same as fixing your gut health or hormonal imbalance where you use pills. Don't end up with kidney or gut issues trying to fix your joint issues! 👏👏 ==== I recommend a routine like this if you want to switch from NSAIDs or DMSO over time: DOSE: Apply a small amount of MSM to the target area, enough to lightly coat the affected joint. Massage in as best you can and let it air dry before your jog or PT. TIMING: Once in the morning for instant pain relief. Once at night, with at LEAST 7 hours of uninterrupted rest. DURATION: 14 days minimum to thoroughly eliminate inflammation. Extend to 30+ days for best pain management results, so you can PT and move about pain-free. FORM: MSM cream with arnica montana, frankincense and deep sea magnesium chloride — everything together in one jar. Saves the hassle. PS: If you're still using ibuprofen, taper off slowly instead of going cold turkey. The cream works alongside whatever you're currently doing. ==== 3 common mistakes you should watch out for: MISTAKE #1: Using MSM on its own. 🚫 Unlike DMSO, you can use other topical relief remedies on top of it! Essential oils are brilliant for this. MISTAKE #2: Using your ingredients all separately. 🚫 You're supposed to be consistent with your arthritis recovery. 🚫 The more separate products you juggle, the more you will find yourself missing one or the other. Use a product that has all of them together. MISTAKE #3: Stopping exercise, PT or movement in general. 🚫 The bottom line has never changed — you must keep on moving. 🚫 The purpose of this cream is to soothe pain and provide a burst of circulation. Take advantage of that window to work your joints. You've got this. ==== If you haven't tried MSM topically yet, you can try it for 90 days and return it if it doesn't work. The brand I use has Deep Sea Magnesium & MSM True Joint Cream with arnica montana, frankincense and lavender. I used to have to scrounge a monthly Amazon order full of oils and magnesium brine, but this small company does a great job themselves — you should support them if you like it. → https://outfieldorganics.com/pages/sp2 PS: If you're going to try it, now is the time to claim their offer — Buy 2 Get 1 FREE discount for a 90-day supply which is 3 jars. PPS: Whatever product you get, check the label! Dimethyl Sulfone (MSM) and Deep Sea Magnesium should be at the TOP. If they're buried at the bottom, the concentration is likely a smidgin. These smaller stores always jam pack it with the good stuff. 👍 Here's the link, bag a couple months' worth ☮️ → https://outfieldorganics.com/pages/sp2
