*We're thrilled to announce the formal approval of Building Resilience in Children as an EPV Summer Course (wuhoo!), which we know so many of you were waiting for!* Modern life certainly has many advantages but it really hasn't done much for children's resilience. In fact, the opposite is true: with all this convenience, speed & access to global information within seconds, we are ALL becoming impatient and incapable of waiting, thinking critically, failing, trying again, figuring things out...or anything that requires time and effort. And good ol' fashioned blood, sweat and tears! For sure, this is trickling down to our children. And, in schools, teachers are telling us that children don't want to TRY problem solving... they don't have the patience for experiential learning (I saw it on X already)... they want to know NOW, want outcomes NOW and cannot tolerate delayed gratification... they cannot tolerate frustration - to really stay in that state WHICH IS A VITAL PART OF LEARNING... and they refuse to stick to something long enough to be committed. If we can't commit, we'll never be able to experience the fruits of our labour and investment! To be honest, this is much BIGGER than just classroom learning. This leans into personal development, character formation and relationship building. If a child never learns how to work through problems on a small scale, they will have no hope of learning how to do it when the big ones hit. And they will hit. That's the nature of life. Once again, this summer course will be jam-packed, hard-hitting, mind-blowing and life-changing! You'll see adversity in your own life through a completely different lens. You'll smile when you see children tolerating their frustration and working through it because you'll really understand how GOOD it is for them. Not all hardship is bad. In fact, hardship can be the greatest blessing you ever had!
