The first EVER dedicated Storm Chaser app to track chases, mileage, record storm events, follow friends, share your live location, report hazards and more! The last 9 weeks has been maybe the hardest I've worked on a project in awhile. I bring you "Storm Chaser Atlas"!!! For years I've wanted to create something that I PERSONALLY would want to use if I was chasing: Ways to track my routes (you can do this in other apps of course), share my favorite local restaurants, coffee shops, etc, while out chasing, and when I post a photo online it doesn't just disappear into the social-media-verse never to be useful again. I was about to take a lovely afternoon nap back in early January when this idea exploded in my brain again, with the addition of a Road Confidence piece and I essentially jumped out of bed, wrote a document outline on the idea and got to work. Why not do it all in one place? And amazingly, Storm Chaser Atlas is now LIVE on the App Store. The download link is in the comments, or you can just go find it. ANDROID IS COMING SOON. Thank you to ALL my epic beta testers like Freddie, Cody, Tim, Brett, Nathan, Jake, Stephen, Nelson and more. What you can do with this app: - Track all your miles, personal, business or chasing, and see a log of everything and the exact roads you took. Export miles, see your tax deduction, etc. - Share Record/Event photos of storms/tornadoes/hazards/fires, that get SAVED to a historical database for display on a map, with precise GPS location and times. Imagine 25 chasers post images of a tornado and then being able to go back and see ALL the images RIGHT where they were taken 🔥 You can of course go back and add all your favorite chase images now and built out that historical record. - Share your fav places, delis, motels, car camping locales, with reviews and all attached to Google Places. - Save your own, private photo op locations. You can even import any JSON files with map locations and add them to Atlas. - Add friends, create specific CIRCLES of Friends, and then share your location with those circles on a chase day so your pals know where you are. - ROAD CONFIDENCE: This is a crowd-sourced feature dependent on users tracking their routes. This is an anonymous contribution to showing roads that have been driven by users of the app, and as those roads are used over and over, a heat map will emerge. But mainly it's to have some kind of confidence that a route has been used before and give you some quick, off-line confidence on taking that road. - Connect to Spotter Network, see spotter dots, even report to Spotter network via Atlas (still beta testing this) - Enjoy a fun Leaderboard showing rankings of chasers racking up miles and contributions. TONS more is coming. Already working on commenting on records (it's already in beta and functional), and a basic social media like status feed for users who maybe want to avoid the toxicity of X/Facebook/BlueSky, etc. The MAIN thing about this app is that PRIVACY was a major concern. There is a lot of information in the app about that, but needless to say, I worked incredibly hard on making sure your location, where you live, where you might be currently, none of that is accessible or available unless you share it. The app has a subscription fee of course because the features built into it require things like database storage, API access to Google, Stadia Maps, physical file storage, website, etc. I truly hope you will check this app out, give it a shot, send me feedback, subscribe, share, help build out an amazing community application. AND this is intended to be an INTERNATIONAL application, and I could really use some chasers from overseas to give it a whirl. FINALLY, if you are a Tour Guide company, I am offering free trials for those of you who would want to share this with their tour guests, because imagine how fun it will be for them to track their own chases, save their own photos and cool spots and be able to look back to see all that.
