I knew a summer-themed feeder was a risky choice, but I couldnβt stop thinking about it. The design process took weeks of revisions to create something that was both beautiful and functional. Once the final design was approved, the first plastic prototype was made. I tested it using the fresh food my dogs eat every day to make sure it could hold a full meal, since many slow feeders on the market are simply too small for medium and large dogs. Next came the metal mold, one of the biggest investments in creating a custom slow feeder. A custom mold typically costs $1,000β$2,000, but itβs what transforms a design into a real product. Then it was time to choose colors. I wanted a variety of summer-inspired shades, so I ordered samples of every color before making the final selections. Once everything was approved, production began. Manufacturing took about 30 days, followed by another month crossing the ocean. I was honestly nervous. My previous shipment had been held by customs and delayed for over a month. With a seasonal product, that would have been a disaster. Thankfully, everything arrived safely and right on time. What started as a sketch back in December is now available in six colors, and seeing the finished Seashell Slow Feeders after months of designing, testing, and waiting has been incredibly rewarding. If youβd like to check them out, theyβre now available on our website.
