I can tell how much you make by watching you work for 30 minutes. The tell isn't how busy you are, it's how *needed* you are. The more your business needs you to function day-to-day, the smaller it is. And the less it needs you, the bigger it is. The founder stuck at $500K is everything to their business. Those who scale past $5M aren’t even in the room most weeks. This isn't a strategy problem. It's not even a sales problem. It's a sequencing problem. Every founder who scales walks through it in the same order. Here it is: PHASE 1 **→** Buy Back Your Time Every other phase needs the time this one frees up. If you're stuck doing $30/hour work in a seat that should pay you $250/hour, you're already capped. To get past this stage, you need to audit the week. Find what you're doing that someone else could do better. Hand it off. Every hour you spend below your worth is a hire you're refusing to make. PHASE 2 **→** Clarify Your Offer and Strategy After you have some time back, the next trap is spreading it across five offers, three customer types, and seven priorities. You’ll need to find the one offer that pays best, drains you least, and customers actually want. Cut everything else. PHASE 3 **→** Build a Predictable Growth Engine If you’re at this phase, you should already have time and a clean offer. What you need now is a system that brings customers in without you praying for them every Monday. You do that by building three channels in parallel: inbound, outbound, and partners. When one dips, the others carry. One channel is a coin flip. Three working together is a system. PHASE 4 **→** Streamline Delivery At this stage, new customers expose every weak system you've been ignoring. The bigger the funnel gets, the louder the leaks get. The way out is to document the work. Build retention into the operation. Plug the bucket before you scale it. PHASE 5 **→** Install Leadership By Phase 5, the business runs. The only problem left is that every decision still routes through you. You're not the CEO yet - you're the most expensive bottleneck on the team. The fix here is to distribute the calls, train people to bring you decisions instead of problems, and stop to being the answer to everything. A business that can't make a decision without you can't scale past you. Most entrepreneurs never get past this stage. PHASE 6 **→** Scale Culture and Vision The business runs. The team runs. The systems run. The only question left is the one only you can answer: *where is all of this going?* Your job is to write the vision. Define the values. Then walk away and let the team carry it. Want the full breakdown of all six? I built a 46-page workbook that goes way deeper into every phase you just read - with the actual audits, scorecards, and exercises tuned to your business. Same one I take my coaching clients through. Comment "SCALE" and I'll send it your way for free 👊 -DM
