Ad text
Well, after mega miles again today, I buckled and decided to let Lenin the Lift take me 5 of the 7 double flights up to my delightful abode here in Sofia, I was finished and it was hot! I'm alive. Sofia is one of Europe's oldest cities and manages to uniquely blend ancient Roman ruins, grand Orthodox architecture, and striking Soviet-era monuments. It sits in the shadow of Vitosha Mountain and is honestly a super affordable cultural and historical hub. And like Burgas, it's green spaces are ever omnipresent and it's clean and safe. I did a great walking tour this morning, which covered all the main sights and was both educational and entertaining. Afterwards I was able to go back to the ones I wanted to explore more and to a couple the tour didn't cover. No point in rambling on about each one, just need to mention that I loved the highlight, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Oh and this I loved, did you know that Sofia has a “Square of Tolerance” which spans the sites of the Orthodox St. Nedelya Cathedral, the Sofia Synagogue, the Banya Bashi Mosque, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral. And everybody respects everybody else's religions and they all live in harmony!
