Right, so fake tan's a load of rubbish if you've got sun damage. And I'm gonna show you why. The reality for Aussie mums: I've got sun damage. Decades of school drop-offs, sports sidelines, beach weekends with the kids. Sun spots. Pigmentation. Uneven tone. All over my legs. So I thought fake tan would help. Nah. Look at this dark patch. This USED to be a sun spot. Now it's a DARK sun spot. Thanks, fake tan. Why this happens (and nobody tells you): The DHA in fake tan — that's what makes it develop — GRABS ONTO pigmentation. So if you have sun spots, age spots, freckles, ANY kind of pigmentation... fake tan makes them DARKER. It's not covering them. It's highlighting them. Like a highlighter pen on all the bits you're trying to HIDE. I'm standing there at sports day, looking down at my legs going, "Why do my sun spots look WORSE than before?" Because CHEMISTRY, apparently. Because DHA and melanin are best friends and they decided to ruin my day. Then another mum told me: "You can't use DHA if you have sun damage. You need something that just sits on TOP of your skin. Like makeup, but for your body." No chemical reaction. No darkening. Just coverage. And I tried it and I was like, WHERE HAS THIS BEEN FOR THE LAST TEN YEARS? This is my leg now: Same sun damage. Can't see it. Because it's COVERED, not darkened. One minute to apply. Doesn't make my pigmentation worse. Doesn't smell like a chemical factory. For Aussie mums with sun damage who've been making it worse with fake tan: Stop using DHA. Use this instead. Link below.
