After about 18 months of elbow pain that just would not quit, I gotta share what finally made a difference for me. It started maybe two years ago now. Got this little twinge on the outside of my elbow after a weekend of golf with my brother. Figured I just overdid it. Took some Advil, iced it a couple times, didn't really think much of it. But it didn't go away. It got worse. Within a few months I couldn't grip a club without wincing. Couldn't shake hands properly anymore. I'm not exaggerating when I say I had to use two hands just to pick up my coffee cup in the morning. And even then it hurt like hell. My wife thought I was being dramatic until she saw me trying to open a jar of pickles one night. I couldn't do it. Had to hand it to her. That was a low point honestly. So I tried everything. Wore one of those tennis elbow strap things for about 6 months. It helped a little bit during the day I guess but it wasn't actually fixing anything. Did physical therapy for maybe 12 weeks. 80 bucks a session. The exercises seemed to just piss it off more than anything. Then came the cortisone shots. First one was like magic. I'm serious. Pain was basically gone for about 4 months and I thought I was cured. Started playing golf again and everything. Then it came back. Second shot lasted maybe 3 weeks if I'm being generous. Third one didn't do a damn thing. My doc said we could try a fourth but by that point I'd been reading online that cortisone can actually weaken the tendon over time. Make things worse in the long run. So I said no thanks. At that point I was out probably $1,200 or so between the PT and the braces and all the shots. And I was right back where I started. Couldn't play golf. Couldn't grip a dumbbell at the gym. Couldn't even carry the groceries in from the car without my elbow lighting up. I was pretty frustrated. My wife was tired of hearing about it. I was tired of dealing with it. Started thinking maybe this was just my life now. Then my chiropractor asked if I'd ever tried using a TENS unit on it. I'd heard of those but didn't really know what they did. He explained that it works on your nervous system, not just the tendon. Something about resetting the pain signals. Made sense to me even though I'm no doctor. I'd seen those TENS things at CVS before. The ones with all the wires that get tangled up. Pads that rip your arm hair out every time you take them off. Seemed like more trouble than it was worth honestly. He told me to look at this one called Vibit instead. Said it was wireless and you could actually wear it while you're doing other stuff. He'd been recommending it to his patients with elbow problems and they were getting good results. So I figured what the hell. They had a 30 day money back guarantee on the website so worst case I just send it back and I'm out nothing. It showed up a few days later. Little charging case with these wireless pods that clip onto the pads. Pretty simple setup. First time I used it I felt this gentle buzzing feeling on my elbow. Actually kind of nice. After maybe 20 minutes I noticed the sharp pain I'd been dealing with for over a year was just... quieter. Duller. It was still there but it wasn't screaming at me like usual. Used it again that night before bed. Slept through until about 5am without that throbbing ache waking me up. That hadn't happened in I don't know how long. A year maybe. By the end of the first week I poured my coffee one handed without even thinking about it. My wife actually pointed it out to me. I hadn't even noticed I did it. End of week three I decided to go to the driving range. Hit a small bucket. Just wanted to see what would happen. I kept waiting for the pain to flare up the way it always did after I'd swing a club. It didn't. I'm not gonna lie I almost didn't believe it. Drove home waiting for it to hit me later that night. Nothing. That was about two months ago now. I'm not gonna sit here and say I'm 100 percent because I'm not. Some days I still feel it a little bit if I overdo it. But I played 18 holes last Saturday for the first time in over a year. Shot like crap but I really didn't care. I was just happy to be out there with my buddies again. I still use the Vibit pretty much every day. Takes maybe 20 minutes. I just clip it on while I'm watching the news or sitting at my desk paying bills. My wife actually started using it on her shoulder a few weeks ago. She's got some rotator cuff thing going on and she says it helps her too. Look if you've got tennis elbow or golfer's elbow or whatever they want to call it and you've already tried all the usual stuff like I did... the braces and the PT and the cortisone shots... and none of it's really working... maybe give this a shot. It's not some overnight miracle cure. But it actually goes after why the pain keeps coming back instead of just covering it up temporarily. They've got a 30 day guarantee so if it doesn't do anything for you just send it back. I actually ordered an extra set of pads after the first month because I've been using it so much. I just wish somebody had told me about this thing before I blew $1,200 on all that other stuff that didn't work. Would've saved me a lot of frustration. Anyway I'll put the link down below if anyone wants to check it out.
