Before you fix the budget, ask what God is saying. I remember the day a woman asked me one simple question that completely changed the direction of my life. "Rick, what is God saying to you?" I just sat there. I didn't have an answer. The truth was, after more than sixty years of living life, I had never really stopped to ask God what His plan was for me. I had built businesses, worked countless jobs, chased opportunities, made good decisions and bad ones, but I had always lived according to what I thought was best. I never stopped to ask if God had a blueprint for my life. Looking back, I had made a mess of so many things. I buried my little daughter far too soon. I walked through divorce. I struggled financially for years. I battled health issues, broken relationships, disappointment, and the constant feeling that no matter how hard I worked, I never seemed to get ahead. I always believed the next opportunity would finally change everything, but it never did. Instead of giving me a quick answer, God invited me into a relationship. I started with one question every morning: "God, what are You saying?" That simple question led me to begin journaling every day. One page became another. One day became another. Before I knew it, two and a half years had passed, and those journal entries became the foundation for Ascension of the Warrior. I didn't write this book because I had everything figured out. I wrote it because I lived it. Every lesson in these pages was learned through victories, failures, heartbreak, restoration, and God's faithfulness. He took a broken man and patiently rebuilt him one step at a time. As He changed me, He also changed the way I viewed my finances, my relationships, my health, my business, and my purpose. Today my life has a different order. God comes first. My family comes second. My business has become an assignment instead of my identity. I no longer wake up wondering how I'm going to solve every problem on my own. I wake up looking forward to spending time with God and asking Him what He wants to accomplish through me that day. That's why I believe this book is more than something to read. It's Day One. It's the first step toward discovering God's design for your life and learning to build from His blueprint instead of your own. If you're tired of reacting to life and you're ready to start walking with God one step at a time, I believe Ascension of the Warrior can become the beginning of a brand-new chapter for you. I didn't write this book for everyone. I wrote it for the man who feels like something is missing, even if from the outside it looks like he's doing just fine.
