When I was six years old, I was sent to a boarding school just like all the kids of missionaries overseas. The experience left me broken. My whole life since has been one long search for acceptance and unconditional love in the face of that abandonment. As a father to children, including my daughter Kara, I had no idea how to accept, much less offer, the kind of love I was seeking. It was in the desire to discover that kind of love that Kara and I dove into writing The Dream Travelers Quest together, a story for kids about a grade-school boy who is being bullied at school and finds himself sucked into another world where he goes on a quest to discover just how valuable he is. Kara, my daughter, is now a teacher, and I don’t think I know anyone who has such a heart for children, just as they are, without condemnation. It’s amazing to see and reflect so deeply in these books. I hope you and your children will join us on the adventures of Theo and Annelie as they discover the true nature of love and overcome fear with love.
