“The World Works Better With Us.” This year’s Disability Pride Month theme, chosen by The Arc’s National Council of Self-Advocates, says it all. July is Disability Pride Month: a time to celebrate identity, visibility, and everything that makes you who you are. This year, we’re emphasizing inclusion. Communities work better together when people with disabilities are included, respected, and supported. Disabilities aren’t something to fix—they’re a natural, valuable part of human diversity. You might not notice at first, but the legacy of those with disabilities can be found everywhere. Curb cuts for wheelchair users. Audiobooks for people who are blind or have low vision. Closed captioning for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing. The yellow, bumpy surface you see before a crosswalk? Those are called truncated domes or detectable warning surfaces. These were all first built for people with disabilities. And they've made things better for everyone else is in the process. This month is also a chance to be honest about what people with disabilities are up against: 👉 Accessibility 👉 Stigma 👉 Bullying This month and every month, we celebrate our unique differences, unapologetically. ❤️💛🤍💙💚 #DisabilityPrideMonth #AccessMatters #DisabilityPride #Stigma #WeBelieveInBetter
