Kid’s don’t struggle socially because they are shy. They struggle socially when they aren’t taught the most crucial skills they need to be a likeable person. By the time they’re 8, 9 or 10… It starts to show up—HARD 😢 No friends. Drama. Tears. And a whole lot of self-doubt. 👇Here are the 4 social skills (with tips on how to teach them) will make their life so much easier for them: 1️⃣ How to join a group or conversation without taking over 👉 Watch for 10 seconds before speaking. Kids who observe first are more likely to be accepted into a group. 👉 Instead of starting with your own idea, echo theirs first. It signals ‘I get you,’ not ‘Look at me.’” 2️⃣ How to accept “no” without melting down 👉 When they hear ‘no,’ teach them to name the emotion + choose an action. This builds emotional control. 👉 Kids who learn to pause 3 seconds after disappointment show higher self-regulation and peer acceptance. 3️⃣ How to handle a disagreement without ruining the friendship. 👉 “Teach them to say: ‘I still like you even if we don’t agree’. It preserves the bond. 👉 Help them move from ‘I’m right’ to ‘I understand your view’ . 4️⃣ How to read the room- knowing when to speak, when to stop, and when someone’s not interested. 👉 Teach them to scan for 3 cues: body turned away, short replies, or no eye contact. These are social stop signs. These Social skills aren’t learnt on their own, kids need to be taught and they need to be prepared. That’s exactly why I created The Secret Playbook- 50 short, relatable stories that help kids build real world social and life skills without lectures. One mom messages me a few weeks ago saying “My 8 year old finally joined a group of kids at her new school. She said the story and tips in the book helped her so much and now she loves school” Start now so that they are ready before middle and high school! Comment “READY” and I’ll send you the link to start today! #kidsconfidence #parentingmadeeasy #confidentkids #kidssocialskills #parentingtips
