A message from our wonderful case manager, Cassie Anderson: This spring break, we had the privilege of hosting a Kids Camp here at Esperanza - A fresh start for homeless Veterans for our low‑income families—an experience filled with learning, joy, connection, and community. None of this would have been possible without the incredible teamwork behind the scenes, the support of our leadership, and the generosity of Target, who funded this program through their grant. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Target, to our dedicated CEO, Suzanne Bond, our case managers, and to everyone who believes in the importance of building community for the families we serve. Our commitment made it possible for parents and children to come together, create memories, and build relationships that strengthen us all. Watching mothers and fathers connect, support one another, and begin to build their own network of community care was truly inspiring. Our week was full of activities that blended safety education, family bonding, and pure fun. We kicked things off with a visit from the fire department, who taught families the importance of having a fire safety plan. We shared a movie day, enjoyed playtime at the arcade, and spent an afternoon singing, dancing, and coming together at a BBQ in Reid Park. The kids also had the incredible experience of a Target tour, where they picked out clothes and educational items, and we ended the week exploring and learning about animals at the Zoo. Every moment—every smile, every conversation, every connection—reminded us of why community matters. Thank you to everyone who helped make this spring break unforgettable.
