The tide was out. That's the only reason I'm still here. Let me explain. Three years ago, I walked to the Thames to end everything. I was done. Completely done. Felt like the biggest waste of space on the planet. Thought everyone would be better off without me. Got drunk. Walked to the river. Ready to do it. And when I got there... just mud. For miles. The tide was out. I stood there, staring at this pathetic stretch of mud, thinking: "I can't even do this right." Then I started laughing. Because it was absurd. So perfectly, darkly funny. Me. Standing at the edge of the Thames. Ready to end it all. And there's no water. Just mud. In that moment of laughing at myself, something shifted. I went home. Slept it off. Woke up the next day and thought: maybe I wasn't supposed to die that night. Maybe the universe was telling me something. That was three years ago. Since then, I've gotten help. Therapy. Medication. Kicked out the narcissist ex who made me feel like nothing. Got my kids full-time. Started getting stronger every day. A few months ago, I was scrolling online. Saw people talking about this thing they wore that started conversations with strangers. Ordered one. Started wearing it everywhere. And people notice. A guy at the gym stopped me last week. "Mate," he said, looking at what I was wearing. "I needed to see that today." I looked at him. Really looked at him. Recognized the exhaustion in his eyes. The barely hanging on. "You doing okay?" I asked. He shrugged. "Not really. But I'm here." "That's enough," I said. "Some days, just being here is enough." He nodded. And I could see it—that tiny shift in his face. Like maybe he believed it. I've had that conversation seven times now. Seven men who stopped me. All of them struggling. All of them needing permission to just survive. And every time, I think about that night. The Thames. The mud. How close I came. How glad I am that the tide was out. Because if I'd gone through with it, I wouldn't have my kids. Wouldn't have gotten help. Wouldn't be here having these conversations that might save someone else. Front says "You're Enough." Back says: "Dear person behind me, the world is a better place with you in it. Love, the person in front of you." I bought three more. One for each of my kids. They're young, but I want them to grow up seeing that message everywhere. Because maybe if I'd seen someone wearing it on my walk to the Thames, I would've turned around sooner. Maybe if my ex had seen me wearing it, he wouldn't have spent years making me believe the opposite. I don't know. But I do know this: I'm here. The tide was out. And now I get to be the person for someone else that I needed that night. If you're walking to your Thames right now—if you're standing at the edge thinking nobody would care—I need you to know something. The tide's out. Go home. Sleep it off. Get help. Because you're enough. And the world is genuinely better with you in it. Even if you can't see it right now. Trust me. I couldn't see it either. But I'm so glad I stayed.
