⭕️ How to Think About a Creator that is Good — and what Chassidus says is going on in our world. Do not begin by thinking of the Creator as a thing inside the universe. Not an object. Not a body. Not a force trapped inside nature. Not a bigger version of a person. The Creator is not one being among other beings. The Creator is the source of existence itself. ⭕️ Step 1: Notice what creation is like. Everything in creation is: limited, changing, dependent, and affected by other things. Nothing in creation fully explains itself. A body depends on food. A tree depends on water. A planet depends on forces. Created things exist, but their existence is not necessary, and they do not contain the reason for their own existence. So think upward: What gives existence to dependent things? What is the source behind all of this? Existence cannot explain itself using only things that depend on existence. Existence must ultimately rest on something that does not depend on anything else for its existence. Otherwise nothing would exist at all. Everything that exists either depends on something else, or is the source on which everything else depends. That is what we mean by The Creator. ⭕️ Step 2: Understand that the source cannot be like creation. The source of creation cannot belong to the same category as creation. Otherwise it would be just another created thing that also requires a cause. So the Creator is not: physical, divided, bound by time, bound by space, or subject to change. The Creator is the One on whom every particle of existence, and every thought a person has, depends for its existence. Because the Creator is the source of existence, human imagination cannot picture Him. ⭕️ A clarification. Saying the Creator is not part of creation does not mean the Creator does not exist. It means the Creator does not exist in the same dependent way that created things exist. Created things receive existence. The Creator is the source of existence. Everything else exists because of Him. ⭕️ A common confusion. People sometimes ask: “What caused the Creator?” But that question assumes the Creator is the same kind of thing as creation. Only things whose existence depends on something else require a cause. Creation needs causes because creation is dependent. The Creator is different. He does not receive existence. He is the source of existence. So the rules that apply to created things do not apply to Him. ⭕️ Step 3: Understand that creation is being given existence now. Creation is not something made once and then left alone. Creation continues to exist because its existence depends on the Creator now. The Creator is not only the reason creation began. He is the reason it exists right now. Every moment. Every particle and every thought continues to exist because its existence depends on Him now. — based on a teaching of the Rambam in Guide for the Perplexed ⭕️ Step 4: Understand what that means for how the world is guided. Once creation is understood as continuously receiving existence, guidance becomes easier to understand. The Creator is not distant from creation. Creation remains dependent on Him in every detail. His knowledge is not external. His will is not occasional. Everything exists through Him. That is why every part of life is under His guidance. Not only the large events. Also the smallest details. ⭕️ Step 5: Let this change how you see the world. Now the world is no longer just objects and events. Everything reveals dependence. Everything reveals that existence is being given. The world is not empty matter sitting by itself. It is creation being held in existence at every moment. Its order points to wisdom. Its existence points to a source. Its dependence points to constant giving. And that means suffering does not happen in a world abandoned by the Creator. It happens inside a world still being held in existence by Him. ⭕️ Step 6: Relate to the Creator through awareness, appreciation, and awe. Relate to the Creator by learning to see reality truthfully. See that life is being given. See that existence is not self made. See that your mind was given to recognize this. Then humility becomes more natural. Gratitude becomes more natural. Responsibility becomes more natural. And appreciation deepens awe. When you notice what you have, and express appreciation for it, your sense of wonder increases. You start to feel: “I am being given something.” That makes relationship more real. A relationship with the Creator begins with awe. And awe is not only wonder. It is wonder, fear, and sadness together: wonder at His greatness, fear because your choices matter, sadness because the distance feels real. Awe does not erase loneliness. It gives it direction. What felt like abandonment starts to feel like longing for relationship. And awe weakens hatred, because hatred grows when pain stays trapped inside ego. ⭕️ Step 7: Understand why relationship is built into creation. Human beings were created with the ability to think, choose, seek truth, and recognize right and wrong. That means creation was built for more than survival. It was built so relationship could become conscious. The Creator chose to make beings who can recognize their source and turn toward Him freely. That is part of His greatness. He chose that creation would matter to Him. He chose relationship. ⭕️ Step 8: Understand why suffering exists. If the Creator wants a world full of goodness, why is there suffering? Because goodness can only be fully received when it is recognized, chosen, shared, and held without shame. Human beings cannot receive goodness with the same dignity when it feels completely unearned. A gift received without participation often creates embarrassment rather than dignity. — based on a teaching of the Lubavitcher Rebbe So the Creator did not only give goodness. He created a world where goodness can be discovered, revealed, and built through relationship. That requires freedom. And freedom means the world includes: distance, mistakes, growth, repair, and suffering. ⭕️ Step 9: Understand what Chassidus says is going on underneath reality. Chassidus explains this through light and vessels. Light means the goodness the Creator wants to reveal. Vessels means the capacity to receive it. More specifically, the vessels are the 10 vessels, the 10 spiritual capacities meant to hold and express what is good: wisdom, understanding, knowledge, kindness, strength, beauty, endurance, humility, bonding, and kingship. The problem was not that goodness existed. The problem was that there was more goodness available than the vessels could hold at first. Why does that cause breakdown? Because when a system cannot hold what is being given to it, it does not stay open, steady, and united. It becomes strained. Each part tightens around itself. Each part starts protecting itself instead of working together. And once the vessels stop cooperating, what should have been received as goodness starts to feel overwhelming. That creates distance. And when that distance is felt from the inside, it often becomes loneliness, shame, fear, and insecurity. It starts to feel like: “I cannot hold this.” “I am on my own.” “Something is wrong with me.” And when those feelings are not met with enough awareness, compassion, boundaries, self forgiveness, and appreciation, they usually turn into survival mode. That is where control, avoidance, people pleasing, numbing, aggression, and other broken patterns begin. That is what creates distance, disunity, and what Chassidus calls shattering. That does not mean the light was bad. It means goodness met a system that could not hold it together yet. ⭕️ Step 10: Understand what that looks like in our world now. A lot of what people are living through is what felt distance looks like inside human beings. When distance is not held well, it turns into survival mode. That is why our world has so much: control, avoidance, people pleasing, numbness, hatred, shame, fear, and cruelty. Not because people are simply wicked. A lot of what looks like wickedness is selfishness built out of fear, shame, loneliness, and self protection. That does not make it harmless. It shows how deep the breakdown goes. People often do not know how to handle feeling alone, unsafe, ashamed, or far from goodness. That is what shattered vessels look like in human life. A person feels distance, and instead of turning it into awe, relationship, truth, or repair, they turn it into self protection. That is why people pleasing, abuse, avoidance, perfectionism, and aggression can all come from the same root: a person trying to survive felt distance. ⭕️ Step 11: Understand what healing is. Healing is not only feeling better. Healing is learning how not to turn felt distance into survival mode. It is learning how to let distance become awe, longing, truth, and relationship. It is building bigger vessels. In real life that means growing in: awareness, compassion, boundaries, self forgiveness, and appreciation. It means: shame becoming self compassion fear becoming trust control becoming healthier boundaries blaming becoming owning numbness becoming the practice of feeling isolation becoming the practice of connection This is not only private self help. This is part of the repair of creation. — based on a teaching of the Chernobyl Maggid, as taught by Rabbi YY Jacobson “And there is even a hidden gift in being misguided. When a person wakes up, they often feel a deep motivation to help others who fell into the same place.” — based on a teaching of the Lubavitcher Rebbe ⭕️ Step 12: Understand what history is moving toward. When people repair what is broken in themselves, in their families, and in their relationships, they are not just becoming nicer. They are rebuilding the vessels of creation. When that happens through greater awareness, compassion, boundaries, self forgiveness, and appreciation, more goodness can be revealed safely. Goodness that once felt overwhelming starts to feel like calm, love, clarity, and responsibility. Over time this healing spreads across generations, communities, and nations. The long arc of history becomes the gradual repair of what was broken. The era of revealed goodness is when humanity has grown enough to receive goodness without shame and without fear. Not because the Creator changed. Because humanity became more able to hold what He was giving. ⭕️ This is why what is happening in our world feels so intense. Humanity is not only dealing with events. It is dealing with hiddenness, disunity, and inherited survival patterns. A lot of modern life is people trying to survive felt distance without understanding what it is. According to Chassidus, the work is not only to calm people down. The work is to help people become more able to hold goodness, tell the truth, repair relationships, and turn distance into relationship with the Creator. That is how the world becomes fit for more revealed goodness. ⭕️ Like and share to help support more spiritual and psychology education. Let me know if you have any feedback.
