The Sindh government has launched a new social protection initiative aimed at supporting young children and low-income families through financial assistance designed to improve early childhood development outcomes. The program provides support for children from birth to five years of age, with a focus on nutrition, healthcare access, and early growth needs during critical developmental stages. Officials say the initiative is intended to reduce inequality and strengthen long-term human development, particularly in vulnerable communities across the province. Under the Early Childhood Development (ECD) program, eligible children will receive Rs 3,000 in financial support, benefiting an estimated 885,000 children in Sindh. The initiative targets rural and underserved areas where access to essential services is limited, with an emphasis on improving child nutrition, health monitoring, and school readiness. Alongside this program, the Sindh government is expanding the Mamta maternal health initiative, which now supports over one million families and focuses on improving healthcare for mothers and children.
