I didn’t start Teacher for a Day as a business. I started it because I was a casual teacher… walking into classrooms every morning with a mix of confidence and complete uncertainty. Sometimes the plans were clear. Sometimes they weren’t. Sometimes the class was lovely. Sometimes they were… testing the limits within the first 3 minutes 😅 And the thing no one really tells you is this: Casual teaching isn’t just teaching. 😵‍💫 It’s problem solving. 🤯 It’s behaviour management. 🧐 It’s thinking on your feet when the tech doesn’t work, the resources are missing, or the class finishes everything by 11am. After doing this for years, I started collecting the activities, strategies and ideas that actually worked. The kind of things that: ✔ buy you time ✔ win the class over ✔ and save the day when the lesson plan falls apart. Eventually those notes turned into something much bigger. I wrote them into what many teachers now call the “Supply Teacher Bible.” Because every casual teacher deserves to walk into a classroom feeling prepared.
