The visible star pattern associated with Hasta appears like an open palm with five fingers. Ancient seers perceived this formation as the celestial hand of creation itself. The hand represents karma in action. Thought belongs to the mind. Vision belongs to the eyes. Speech belongs to the mouth. But manifestation belongs to the hands. SAVITṚ – THE DIVINE INSPIRER The deity of Hasta is Savitṛ, one of the twelve Adityas. Many confuse Savitṛ with Surya alone, but Savitṛ represents a deeper principle. Surya is the visible Sun. Savitṛ is the divine impulse behind creation. He is the force that awakens life every morning. He is the cosmic inspiration that transforms an idea into reality. This is why the most famous Vedic mantra is dedicated to Savitṛ ॐ तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि। धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्॥ "We meditate upon the divine brilliance of Savitṛ. May He inspire and illuminate our intellect." Notice the word "प्रचोदयात्" – inspire, impel, set into motion. This is the essence of Hasta. Ideas become action. Dreams become reality.
