🚨 Knowing the science isn’t enough to get a top GCSE grade. One of the biggest mistakes I see students make is spending hours revising content but not enough time practising how to apply it to exam questions. They may understand the topic perfectly, but then lose marks because they: ❌ Don’t use the correct scientific terminology ❌ Miss key information in the question ❌ Don’t answer the command word properly ❌ Struggle to apply their knowledge to unfamiliar situations ❌ Don’t include enough detail for the number of marks available 💡 My teacher tip: Once your child understands a topic, get them practising exam questions straight away — then use the mark scheme to identify exactly what was missing. The jump from a grade 5 to a grade 7–9 often isn’t about learning more science. It’s about learning how to turn that knowledge into marks. 📚 Follow @ms.malikgcsescienceteacher for more GCSE Science tips from an experienced teacher and examiner.
