And most people will not think seriously about that until it is the only thing left to think about. Do not let that be you. Because here is what makes eternity so terrifying for so many people who sat in church their entire lives. They knew about Jesus. They could tell you He died on a cross. They could tell you He rose on the third day. They had heard the story so many times it had stopped landing with any weight at all. But they never truly knew Him. And there is a difference - an eternal difference - between knowing about someone and actually knowing them. You cannot know someone you have never truly listened to. You cannot know someone whose words you have never taken the time to understand. You cannot build a real relationship with God on secondhand summaries and occasional attendance. And you cannot stand before Him on the last day and claim a relationship you never actually pursued. Francis said we get one chance at this life. One. And it can end at any second for any of us. Most people are spending that one chance making that tiny red section as comfortable as possible - and never once thinking about what comes after. Do not think it is acceptable to go weeks without opening your Bible. Do not think reading three chapters and forgetting them by noon is the same as knowing God. Do not think you can say you love Jesus while treating His Word like background noise. Your eternity does not depend on how many Sundays you attended. It depends on whether you actually knew Him. And you cannot know Him while remaining a stranger to what He said. Romans.
