Early warning. Faster response. Stronger communities. In Lalitpur, community members are learning how to recognize early warning signs of disease outbreaks and report them quickly, helping local authorities respond before outbreaks spread. Organized by UNICEF, in partnership with Lalitpur Metropolitan City and with generous support from the Pandemic Fund, the orientation brought together ward representatives, youth, educators, Nepal Police officials, Female Community Health Volunteers and local government officials to strengthen preparedness and response at the community level. For FCHV Bimala Rana, the orientation helped underline the urgency of response. “Before, when we saw symptoms or many people becoming sick at the same time, we worked more slowly,” she says. “Now we know we should not wait." As part of the project, similar orientations are being held in other communities around Nepal. Read the full story: https://www.unicef.org/nepal/stories/eye-early-detection World Bank Nepal
