In June of 1865, a full 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Union soldiers arrived on the shores of Galveston, Texas to enforce the freeing of enslaved Black people. This day became known as Juneteenth aka Freedom Day. Though the current administration aims to remove Juneteenth as a Federally Recognized Holiday, we know that we don't need permission to celebrate Juneteenth and our continued fight for liberation. This is what the tribe is wearing for Juneteenth.
