Sneak peek at a witch academy reverse harem with fated mates, dangerous magicae, and touch-her-and-die protectors… “We’ll give you a quick tour,” Eirik says, like this is normal. “We’ve got a meeting with the headmaster in two hours.” My stomach flips. Eight years ago, these boys vanished. Now they’re here—older, lethal, looking at me like I belong to them—and they’re walking me through an academy that shouldn’t exist. Ryes goes stiff beside me, and without thinking I take his hand. The way his fingers tighten around mine makes something inside my chest ease… and tighten at the same time. “This is so big,” I breathe, staring up at the stone buildings and the carved symbols that glow faintly along the archways. Magic clings to everything like mist. “The dorms are split by witch type,” Zohar explains, casual. Like it’s nothing to say a nightmare could drown someone in their sleep. “Elementals and Primordials.” Time. Light. Dark. My mouth goes dry. “This dorm is for those who dabble in light magicae,” Ciar says. “Boring people. Let’s move on.” “He’s just scared of seeing his bully,” Ryes whispers, and the laugh that bursts out of me feels half-hysterical. Half relieved. Then we reach one of the training grounds. A girl throws fire like it’s an extension of her hand. Another moves objects with a flick of her wrist. My brain scrambles for logic. For a trick. For anything. “Wow,” I whisper. “Can you guys do that?” “I can,” Mael says, puffing out his chest. I step closer—too close—because I can’t help it. And then— A shriek rips out of me as something whistles through the air. An arrow is flying our way—straight for my throat. Mael moves before I even understand. Fire snaps into existence, and the arrow disintegrates mid-flight. “Oh my days,” I gasp, staring at the empty space where it should have hit me. Ryes is already storming toward the student who fired it. Zohar is at my side, hands on my shoulders. “Are you hurt?” I shake my head, breath shaking. “I’m fine,” I manage to murmur, before grinning, because the adrenaline is real and so is the wonder. “But I now understand Mael’s use of fire in his threats…” Zohar laughs, pulling me close. “Told you.” “Knock it off,” Eirik says, sharp. “We’ve got to go.” The way he says it makes me feel like the danger isn’t over. It’s just beginning. “Where?” I ask, voice smaller than I want. “The lake,” Mael says, tugging me forward. “You’ll love it. We don’t have mermaids, but we do have nymphs.” My heart stutters. Because if this is real… then so is everything they’ve been trying not to tell me. Read Secret Witch in Kindle Unlimited — also available in audiobook and paperback.
