Popular astrology often portrays Her as a deity of misfortune or destruction. Such interpretations arise from superficial understanding rather than the wisdom preserved by the Maharishis. The Vedas present a far deeper truth. Nirriti is not the destroyer of Dharma. She is the destroyer of Adharma. She removes that which has exhausted its purpose. She dissolves illusion, pride, false identity and accumulated karmic burdens so that the soul may once again align itself with Truth. Just as a gardener removes diseased roots to save a tree, Nirriti uproots inner impurities before new life can flourish.
