POV: ur examiner reading ur elaboration “ok they made a point... gave an example... and then... that’s it? where’s the analysis? where’s the SO WHAT?” *marks down for lack of development* ur examiner is not stupid. but u need to WRITE like they are. not in a disrespectful way — in the sense that u need to explain EVERYTHING. every nuance. every connection. every assumption u’re making. because if u leave gaps, the examiner won’t fill them in for u. they’ll just take marks off. THE TEACH-AN-IDIOT APPROACH imagine u’re explaining ur argument to someone who has ZERO clue about the topic. even if it’s something obvious like social media. u still need to spell out: - what it is - why it matters - how it connects to ur argument - what would happen WITHOUT it ❌ ASSUMING KNOWLEDGE: “Social media connects people globally, which is beneficial.” (ok... and?) ✅ TEACHING FROM SCRATCH: “Social media removes geographical barriers — meaning someone in Singapore can connect with communities in Brazil instantly. Before this, exposure to other cultures required physical travel, something only the wealthy could afford. This democratisation of connection has fundamentally shifted how younger generations view the world.” 1️⃣ pretend ur reader knows nothing — explain every keyword and concept 2️⃣ spell out the connection between ur example and ur argument explicitly 3️⃣ never assume the examiner will “get it” — if u don’t write it, it doesn’t exist sign up for a free trial! link in bio 🔗 #englishtuition #olevels #examtips #writingskills #englishmylaststraw
