Ad text

These jeans are almost 20 years old. Less than 3 hours after buying them, I was on the side of I-95 changing a tire in them. In 2006, I was flying back from Los Angeles into RDU on my way home to South Carolina. I already knew of Raleigh Denim, but I’d never owned a pair and had never visited their workshop. -Since I was already in Raleigh and had the drive ahead of me, I decided to stop at the Curatory—the home, workshop, and flagship of Raleigh Denim. The same place where the jeans are designed, cut, sewn, finished, and sold. One roof. One vision. -If you know Raleigh Denim, you know the reputation. Carried in some of the highest-end boutiques in the country. But what mattered to me then—and still does—is that every pair is made entirely in North Carolina, using NC–made fabric, by NC artisans, by hand. -That day I was greeted by a young woman (I believe her name was Courtney), a fashion student at the time. We talked denim, fit, construction, and craft. She helped me find my perfect pair, tailored them on the spot, and finished them on that beautiful old Union Special chain-stitch machine. -One of Raleigh Denim’s signatures is that every pair is signed on the inside pocket by the artisan who made them. This pair was so early that they were made by Victor Lytvinenko himself, the founder. Signed by Victor and his wife. Years later, in 2021, I ran into Victor again—and he signed them again. -Less than three hours after buying my first-ever pair of Raleigh Denim jeans, I caught a flat tire on I-95 South. So there I was, on the side of the highway, breaking in brand-new raw denim while changing a tire. Life happened immediately. -These weren’t worn for show. They were worn in seasons. Maybe a month straight, then a break. Maybe three months. Sometimes six. Over and over again. Real wear. Real life. -Come January, these jeans will officially be 20 years old. What you’re looking at isn’t destruction—it’s evolution. -Grateful beyond words. -Thank you, Victor. Thank you to the artisans. Thank you to the entire Raleigh Denim family. -Honored to wear the work. Honored to know the people behind it. 🤍👖 #denim #slowfashion #americanmade #patina #raleighdenim
