Will anyone know I just had Botox? Remember that video series where Dr. Julie showed herself injecting Botox (actually Dysport) on herself? Here she is 1 hour after. Some of the most common questions we hear from new clients are about bruising, and whether or not people will be able to tell they just got something done. We know our clients want to look refreshed, not like they just had a date with a needle. The good news? For many people, within about 10 minutes of neurotoxin injections, there's minimal to no visible evidence that anything happened at all. Unless, of course, you bruise easily, have very fair skin, or Dr. Julie gets unlucky with her injection point selection. The face has a LOT of blood vessels, so avoiding every single one can be a bit of a duck-and-dodge situation. We do our best but any injector who would tell you they will never bruise you is not actually injecting.... (just sayin'). We have a few tricks up our sleeves to create the best possible no-one-has-to-know outcome. 1. We use TINY NEEDLES. REALLY TINY. We use very sharp, very small 33-gauge needles. And we switch them out every 4th or 5th injection to keep them sharp and minimize unnecessary tissue trauma. 2. A LITTLE PRE-APPOINTMENT PREP. When medically appropriate, we encourage you to avoid fish oil supplements, large amounts of garlic, and NSAIDs like Aleve or ibuprofen for 48 hours before your appointment. 3. WE APPLY INHANCE- ALASTIN'S POST-INJECTION SERUM. With a little luck, expertise, a little arnica serum from Alastin we also reduce bruising or the duration of bruising. 4. WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, WE HAVE ACCESSORIES. Because of COURSE we do. -Bougie, customized ice packs. -Tinted sunscreen. -A little concealer know-how. -And, when necessary, we can help you pick out the perfect and strategic pair of Audrey Hepburn sunglasses.
