Welcome to the “Irish Spring” season, Imbolc. ☘️ Beginning on St. Brigid’s Day (Feb 1) and blooming into Ostara and Easter. Brigid has two personas; the goddess and the saint. Brigid was a goddess of fire, poetry, and healing. St. Brigid of Kildare (c. 451–525) is the patroness saint (or 'mother saint') of Ireland, and one of its three national saints along with Patrick and Columba. The earliest account of St Brigid is an Old Irish hymn from the 7th century by St Ultan of Ardbraccan (died c. 657), Brigit Bé Bithmaith ('Brigid ever-excellent woman'). Music serving as the surviving history and cultural merging of these two revered matriarchal figures.
