Judging by the comments I got yesterday lots of you are currently struggling with freshly 2 year olds 😵💫 This is normal! This 2-year “regression” can last a few weeks but there are things you can do to help: 📈Stay consistent: Maintain a predictable and calming bedtime routine to help your child feel secure. Introducing a visual chart can be helpful for reducing overwhelm and battles. 😴Adjust naps (if possible): Total sleep needs drop around this age. If your child is still napping (most still are at 2!), you may need to cap it to prevent it from interfering with nighttime sleep. Alternatively your child may need a later bedtime in order to build enough sleep pressure after the nap. Remember this is temporary! ✋🏽Set loving limits: Be clear and consistent with your boundaries, while still being gentle and empathetic to what they’re going through. Little ones thrive when we are in the lead and they know what to expect from us. 💕Provide reassurance: Be a safe and calm presence that your child can depend on. Remember your child is 2 but they are still in infancy from a neurobiological standpoint. They still require co-regulation! If you’re struggling with your 18 month-6 year old’s bedtime or overnights check out my Better Bedtimes Guide which addresses all of these things and gives you a realistic game plan 💖 Comment BBG to get the 🔗
