After more than a decade of closure and neglect by this Labor Government, the Greenvale Reservoir Park has finally reopened! In 2014 the park was shut due to dam wall reconstruction works, and for years local residents’ pleas to reopen it were ignored. In 2017, Labor announced a major upgrade to Greenvale Reservoir Park, but they failed to deliver anything and residents were left with nothing. This was just another broken promise. It wasn’t until 2024, after we engaged in a campaign in the media and the parliament, and over 1,300 locals signed my petition, that Labor had a second go at announcing the park would be upgraded and reopened. Today the gates have finally opened thanks to the Liberals community campaign. This is a huge win for Greenvale residents. Thanks to persistent community advocacy, locals can now enjoy this beautiful space once again. The upgraded park features new entry points, improved walking trails, toilets and barbecues for families and communities to come together. So many families, including my own, share cherished memories and moments from before the park was closed, known as Ford’un Arkasι by our local Turkish community, and I'm proud we have forced the government to finally reopen it. This reopening shows what our community can achieve when we work together and I thank those members of our community who helped make this happen.
